Stephen Elderkin

Director of Environmental Sustainability National Highways

I have worked at National Highways for just over 6 years, 3 as Chief Analyst, 3 as a Project Director for a Tier 1 scheme and since January have been the Director of Environmental Sustainability.  My professional background is an economist, and a member of the Government Economic Service.  I worked in central departments for about 10 years before joining Highways, with a particular focus on environmental policy.  This included leading the Government analysis for the Climate Change Act and the setting of the first 4 carbon budgets.
