Meet the Traffex Steering Committee

The most eagerly anticipated event of 2022 will undoubtedly be the return of Traffex / Parkex to Birmingham’s NEC from 14-16th June. For the first time in three years, the UK's flagship traffic, transport and parking event will reunite the sector, giving everyone the chance to catch up in person and explore, first-hand, the many advances that have been developed since the event last took place.

The Traffex organisers have announced a stellar line-up of experts from top professional bodies in the UK to assist with programme development. They include (pictured above, from left to right): Hannah Bartram, Chief Operating Officer, ADEPT; Dominic Browne, Editor, Highways Magazine; Darren Capes, ITS Policy Lead, Traffic and Technology Division, Department for Transport (DfT); Kealie Franklin,  General Secretary, ARTSM; Daniel Isichei, Director of Communications, Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT); Jennie Martin, Secretary General, ITS (UK); Adam Simmons, Director, Future RIS and Government Relations, National Highways; and Steve Spender, Chief Executive, Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).

Commenting on the task ahead, Darren Capes (pictured right) from the DfT said: "I’m delighted to be joining the Traffex 2022 steering committee to guide the direction of the ‘Highways’ and ‘Transport Network’ programmes. There are many challenges facing the UK’s road network around decarbonisation and the end of internal combustion, new mobility solutions, equitable access to transport, and the coming of connectivity and autonomy. It is essential that technology, engineering and innovation rises to meet the coming challenges, and I believe this event has a key role to play in achieving this."

Running across the three open days, the Traffex Conference will be split into two separate streams: The Highways Theatre will focus on day to day operations, fixed infrastructure and civil engineering, while the Transport Network/Mobility Theatre will explore highways technology and ‘future challenges’, including connected vehicles, AI, datasets, delivering on decarbonisation, mobility, active travel, EVs and more.

Craig Donovan, Traffex Event Director, commented: "Traffex continues to be the largest dedicated traffic management, road safety & mobility event in the UK. For more than 35 years it has been connecting over 10,000 forward thinking innovators with central government, local authorities and private businesses. And 2022 offers no exception as we celebrate getting back together again at the NEC in June. The quality of the programme, and variety of subjects covered, continues to be our top priority. We're ensuring that our speaker line-up provides a platform for thought-leadership debate, and the opportunity to air key challenges and issues affecting the sector today. I am thrilled that our steering committee, representing pretty much the entire audience for Traffex, is on board as we build an exciting new programme for this year's event."

Traffex / Parkex takes place at the NEC in Birmingham from 14-16 June 2022. Visitors will be able to register free of charge for Traffex / Parkex from early March 2022.
